Informed Consent & Practice Guideliens

Kimberly Milfort, LMT__________________ (Therapist) of Believe the Body, LLC attended Indiana Therapeutic Massage School and is a Licensed Massage Therapist trained in manipulation of the soft tissues of the body with additional training in Trauma-Informed Touch, Tech Neck, TMJ, Tension Headaches, Low Back Pain, Myofascial Release, and Depression/Anxiety & Grief.

By booking with the Therapist, the Client agrees to receive massage services and follow these guidelines.

1) Accommodations

To help give a good experience the Therapist can usually make accommodations. The client should ask if they need something changed, for example a different type of bolster, extra blanket or change in pressure - it’s important that the client feel comfortable and be able to breathe easy during the session. Clients with sensory challenges (sights, sounds, scents, textures), attention needs (requiring a fidget toy or break during the service), challenges climbing onto a massage table, weighing more than 350lbs, or with mobility challenges with 3-5 stair steps are invited to inform the Therapist.

2) Scheduling

Clients may arrive for appointments up to 10 minutes early. If a client is running late (which we all do sometimes), they may text 317-427-8587. Sessions will still end at the scheduled time. For reschedules or cancellation, 24 hours notice is required, otherwise there will be a 50% charge from the originally scheduled service at therapist's discretion. Late cancellation will result in a full charge of the originally scheduled service, at therapist's discretion. Clients must reschedule if sick or within 6 weeks of a surgery or major injury, and inform the therapist of recent injuries. Hygiene products are available in the bathroom for those days where clients feel like freshening up on site before the session.

3) Safety & Body Respect

This practice holds all bodies with unconditional positive regard and respect and is a safe place for all people including but not limited to those who are undocumented, LGBTQIA, BIPOC, and neurodivergent. Clients who have received Cancer treatment within the last week, are pregnant, or who are active duty military or first responders may be referred to more appropriate massage therapy providers. Client safety is paramount, and they can change or end the session at any time. It unsafe to treat clients who are within 48 hours of certain Cancer treatments, such as chemotherapy.

It is very normal for people to have the entire spectrum of bodily reactions to massage - clients do not have to be any certain way on the table.

Clients will be properly draped during sessions. Minors must be fully clothed and accompanied, and their guardians will complete all forms. This practice is not affiliated with sex work, and any violent, sexual, or otherwise inappropriate comments or actions will result in immediate termination of the session with full fee charged, and the incident will be reported.
